They're definitely worth a shot. The games do a really good job of balancing a serious core story with absurd (and often hilarious) side stories and content, including a large number of surprisingly fleshed out minigames. Imagine a world in which JAV actress cards are collectibles that can be turned in to watch teaser videos.
Certainly some of the most unique games I've played in recent memory.

From memory i believe Yakuza 4 is pretty good to start with, So is Yakuza 0 (i've watched let's plays of those two)

You guys really should. Its one of the shining jewels of contemporary Japanese video games in my opinion. While people pine for Nier series (Automata / Replicant), or Monster Hunter, or Resident Evil, Mario, etc... I'd pine for the Yakuza series, and I'm obviously not alone in having this sentiment, for very good reasons. Words won't do it justice so you guys gotta give it a shot with Yakuza 0.
If there's one more thing you guys can know me for aside from all the porn decensoring, its my undying love for the Yakuza series.
